"Today’s Budget does not draw a line under COVID-19; we have challenging months ahead"
Chancellor Rishi Sunak

We now need a period of tax certainty as the UK continues on its path towards recovery, but what opportunities did Sunak's Autumn Budget and Spending Review announcements bring?

On Wednesday 27 October, plenty of crowd-pleasers were announced. Alcohol duties, for example, will be “radically simplified”, while pub landlords will be toasting the new ‘draught relief’. However, of course, there were a handful of policy changes not announced in the speech but instead squirreled away in background papers.

Overall, the Chancellor remains in spend mode, with little hint of what might be in store as the UK economy continues to recover and the national debt demands to be paid.

In our latest Budget Summary document, our team of specialist tax experts outline the key announcements, including those which the Chancellor may not have made obvious in his address to Parliament.
